Willie L. Echols was born July 2, 1941 in Chatfield, Arkansas to the Late Reece and Rosie Echols. Willie traveled from Arkansas to Dade City in 1961 as a truck driver. He labored at various jobs such as construction and agricultural work. After making friends with a few of the locals, he took up residency and started his family here. Willie is fondly remembered by family and friends alike for his willingness to lend a helping hand, for striking up friendly conversations with strangers, and for sharing stories of his life experiences that added a little extra humor to anyone's day. He is treasured and will be missed by those who knew and loved him. On Tuesday, August 19, 2020 in Tampa, Florida God called Willie home to rest while surrounded by his loving family. Willie was preceded in death by his son, Robert Echols; siblings, Verdel Mills and Glen Echols. Willie is survived by a loving wife, Felecia Knight Echols; devoted children, Rita Mitchell, Willie Echols, Ernest Echols, Ruthie L. Echols, Teresa Robinson, Michael Echols, and Ryan Echols; stepson, Ronnie Knight; siblings, Mary Alice Jennings, Levern Echols, Theresa Wagner, Charles Echols, Lawrence Echols, Arnette Newman, Sammie Echols, Mary Lee Jones, and Glenda Barker; friend and former wife, Ruthie Echols; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and sorrowing friends.
