Superintendent Emeritus Mitchell Davis, Jr. was born September 17, 1945 in Tampa, Florida as the eldest child of the late Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Evelyn Davis, Sr. Reared in Dade City, Florida, he graduated as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1963 from Mickens High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Talladega College in 1967 and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1970. He was employed at GTE Data Services as a computer analyst for almost 25 years. He served as a member and Chairman of the Pasco County Housing Authority, member and Chairman of the Trustee Board of Pasco Hernando Community College, a member of the College Reach Out Program (CROP) Advisory Council, and charter member of the Pasco Education Foundation, Inc. He was the founder and Chairman of Citizens Concerned for Students and the Honor Day Awards Ceremony He was appointed as the Pastor of The Church Of God In Christ in Dade City, Florida by the late Bishop W. E. Davis in 1983. He became the Superintendent of the newly formed Dade City District in 1986. He also served as one of the Administrative Assistants to the late Bishop Matthew Williams. On May 13, 1972, Superintendent Emeritus Davis married Mrs. Mitchell Davis, Jr., in Pensacola, Florida. Superintendent Emeritus Mitchell Davis Jr. departed this life on April 24, 2025. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with: his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Mitchell Davis, Jr of 52 years; Children, Elder Mitchell Davis, III (Mrs. Tamiko Davis), Elder Mendell Davis, Mrs. Monet Sanders (Elder Anthony Sanders) and Mrs. Michon Shaw (Pastor A. D. Shaw); Grandchildren, Miss Dichon Shaw, Miss Louise Shaw, Miss Inez Shaw, Master Anthony Sanders, Jr., Master Adam Sanders and Miss Abigail-Matilda Sanders; Siblings, Dr. Shirley Harvey, Mrs. Arnetha Patrick (Deacon Hosea Patrick) and Mrs. Gloria Wong; Brothers and Sisters In-Law, Reverend and Mrs. W. R. Nesbitt, III, Bishop and Mrs. G. F. Nesbitt, Sr., Bishop R. R. Nesbitt, Ms. M. A. Stewart and Reverend Dr. Milessa Nesbitt; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends
