Stewardess Lillie Wormack Obituary

Lillie Mae Wormack, a faithful and humble servant of God, was born February 21, 1940, in Williston, Florida, to the late Alberta Robinson and William Curtis Bronson. She was the baby girl of 15 children, who all preceded her in death.  She received her early education in the schools of Levy County.  She accepted Christ at an early age and continued her Christian journey throughout her life. She married the late Presiding Elder Reverend Richard W. Wormack, in 1956. To this union, fourteen children were born.  She was the Owner/Proprietor of Wormack’s Grocery and bookkeeper for Wormack & Sons’ Harvesting and Hauling, Inc. She was a fulltime, stay-at-home mother until her last child started school. She then shared her love with others as a line server in the cafeteria at St. Leo University for over 22 years. She loved to cook and shared her good home cooking with everyone she met, especially her sweet potato pies (Mmmmm, good).  Her Christian character and kindness towards people made her loved and admired by her community and everyone that knew her. Her dynamic influence was instrumental in the numerous community organizations she supported, namely the Head Start Program, College Reach Out Program (CROP), and African American Heritage Society. She was an inspiration to many, young and old alike. She always encouraged everyone to pursue education. In this pursuit, she established a scholarship in her late husband’s name which provided funds to many local students to attend Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. She gave much wisdom and courage to those who loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was a partner in ministry serving with her late husband at all the churches he pastored throughout Florida. In 1987, he was appointed as Presiding Elder of the Fort Myers District, Tampa Florida Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC), where she served as the District Consultant for 5 years until his death in 1992.  She was a lifetime stewardess serving in all his pastoral assignments and presently at her home church of New Bethel AMEC, Lacoochee. Additionally, she served in the capacities of trustee, local WMS president and Silver Sister, and was an active member of the Lay Organization and Ministers’ Spouses Alliance.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, daughters Mary Ann Wormack, Brenda Denise Wormack, and Annie Bell Perkins, grandsons, Darryl L. Meadows (living widow Nichelle) and Terald Emanuel McGhee.  On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, God called her name, and she made her eternal home transition to God’s bosom surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of service:  Children, Ella Louise Meadows, Doris Wormack, Vivian Alberta Missouri, Richard Bennett Wormack Jr., Rev.
