Sister Mamie P. Craig was born January 13, 1939 in Greensboro, Alabama to the late Lewis Pete and Essie Woods. During her teenage years, her family moved to Quincy, Florida where she met and made many lasting friendships. She received her formal education in the public school system of Gadsden County. She earned an associate degree upon graduating from Pasco Hernando Community College. Sister Craig accepted Christ as her Personal Savior as a young adult. She later became a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Dade City, Florida, for over 30 years. Sister Craig enjoyed serving on the Usher Board and working in the Culinary department, until her health began to decline. She was the President of Lodge #24, Dade City, of the Grand Assembly Lily Security Benefit Association Inc.; Kay Andrews, Grand President. Sister Craig worked as a devoted caretaker and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sisters, Catherine Pete, Wilene Upshaw, Jannie Johnson, and Beverly Pete; and her brothers, Lewis Pete, Henry McKinney, Jr., and Joseph Pete. On June 19, 2025, Sister Craig was called home to rest, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by: her loving and devoted son, Glenn Smith (Barbara); four grandchildren, Melody Smith, Sheketa Smith, Kimberly Smith, and Katherine Smith; eleven grandchildren, Anel Marc, X’zavion Davis, Tiana Samuels, Anez Marc, MaKala Been, Destinee Bradwell, Kaden Collington, MaKenzi Collington, Paige Thomas, Kylie Smith, and soon to be baby, Khapri Mowatt; her sisters, Clara Upshaw, Janice Pete, Annie Jean McKinney,, Sandra Wilson, (James), and Mildred Copeland, Mynessia King, (Paul); brother, Clarence Pete (Linda), Willie Coyle, and Willie Henry McKinney; like a son, Joseph Allen; special friends, Pat Armstrong, Rebecca Mitchell, and Joanne Lewis; her church family of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
