Rosalina Anita (Penix) Hansberry

Our beloved Rosalina (Rose) Anita Hansberry, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in Zephyrhills, Florida Hospital. She was 62 years old. Rose was born on June 17, 1960, to Carlos and Doris Aponte in Buffalo, New York. The family relocated to Dade City, FL and at a young age, Rose was adopted by Morris and Eunice Penix.  Rose graduated from Pasco Comprehensive High School, Dade City, FL. A few years after graduating, she married Eric Hansberry and to that union, a baby girl (Thelma) was born. The marriage was later dissolved and Rose moved to Tampa where she lived over twenty years.  During this time, she was employed at a Dry Cleaner and at Walmart Distribution Center. She worked until she became ill. Rose moved back to Dade City to be closer to her family. Later she became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Dade City, FL.  Rose became a member of the Ladies of Elegance Ministry. She enjoyed being around family, attending family events, but most of all shopping! Rose was preceded in death by her father, the late Morris Penix and grandparents, the late, George and Thelma McLeod She leaves to cherish her memories: Her mother, Eunice Penix; daughter, Thelma; grandchildren, La’Dainian and Angello; sisters, Rozalyn (Larry), Franchon (Eugene); aunt, Venderee; special nephew, Mykh’ael; other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
