Robert Pye Obituary

Mr. Robert Lee Pye, 80, of Brooksville, Florida transitioned from this life on Monday, November 6, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by family.  Mr. Pye was born on November 6, 1943 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Otis and Viola (Marshall) Pye.  He attended school in the Valdosta city school district up to the sixth grade.  It was then that he was withdrawn from school in order to help support the family.  Mr. Pye moved to Lacoochee, Florida in the early 1990's and it was there that he met Rochelle Burks and married in 1998.  They later moved to Brooksville, Florida, where he resided until his passing.  He was a faithful employee of Heritage Park Health Rehabilitation Center from October 1997 to July 2019, when he retired due to his failing health.  Robert accepted Christ in his life.  He attended Glorious Church of God in Christ occasionally.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Viola Marshall Pye; his children, Randy Bates and Tracey Morgan; his siblings, Otis Pye, Rosa Mae Pye, Johnny Pye, Earnest Pye, Annie Grace Hall, Mamie Hall, James Pye and Isom James Roberts.  Robert is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Evangelist Rochelle Pye; children, Debra McKinnon (Derrick), Robina Byrd (Charles), Adrain Walker (Tyshenna), Courtney Pye, Denesha Pye, Ray Bates Jr., Angela Bates, Felicia Bates, Willie Bates, Richard Bates, Fredrick Bates, Dexter Phillips, Mary Lee, Frankie Berrian (Russell), Jimmy Pye (Regina), and Artis Pye; brother, George Pye; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
