Reverend Willie Macon Oliver was born May 30, 1939, the third child of nine children to the Late Henry and Rosa Lee Hayes-Oliver in Marianna, FL, where he started his formal education at Mc Chapel Elementary School.  He furthered his education at Carter Parromore High School in Quincy, Florida.   Willie was raised in a family with a praying mother.  It was her influence that lead him to pursue a godly life.  He became a man of  prayer, praise and meditation.  As a young man, Mr. Oliver joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Quincy, Florida where he was licensed and ordained to preach God’s Word.  After locating to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he became affiliated with the Methodist Denomination for seven years.  Then, relocating to    Florida he returned to his Baptist Denomination under the leadership of Pastor T. H. Thomas and the Late Pastor Frank McCoy under whom he received his certificate of Ordination.  Minister Oliver was affiliated with the Pasco County Ministerial Alliance Association.  Mr. Oliver’s employment included Agri -Timber and the Pasco County School Board.  He was united in holy       matrimony to Gertrude Roberts-Johnson on December 23, 1983.  Together they began the next phase of their spiritual      journey.  He preached and served at several churches (two in the Orlando area) before accepting Pastoral duties at Mt. Bethell MBC, Okahumpka, Florida and Little Rock MBC, St. Catherine, Florida.  In 2005, he relinquished his stewardship at Mt. Bethel and became full time Pastor at Little Rock, where a strong spiritual bond was formed and nurtured.  Reverend Oliver formed a family gospel group called “The Olivets” which include his wife, Gert, her sisters Rose and Felicia, along with his niece, Angie.  Pastor Oliver along with another young man played guitar.  They sang such songs as “Christian Automobile” “I Wanna Be at the Meeting” “Heaven is My Goal” and others.  Pastor Oliver loved preaching, teaching, singing and being a good neighbor.  On May 15, 2019 at 3:30 am, the Lord called his servant to rest.  He leaves to cherish sweet memories: his loving and faithful of 35 years, Gert; children, Vivian Ann, Gwendolyn, Bonita, Damita, Willie Jr. and Chaulin;  nine siblings, Reverend Amos Oliver (Rev. Pauline), Alex Pete, Carol, Robert, Jerome, Joseph, Terry, Mary (Ben) and Ulela (Cliff); sisters-in-law, Rose Jackson (Pastor Herbert) and Elder Felicia Powell (Jerome); brothers-in-law, Leroy Roberts Jr. (Gloria), Minister Nathaniel Roberts (Minister Deborah), Dr. Willie Roberts (Pamela), Richard Roberts (Anita), Pastor Freddie Roberts (Pastor Teresa), Sylvester (Chantel; and a host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, a loving church family, Little Rock MBC, St. Catherine, Fellow Clergymen and numerous other sorrowing friends.
