Sylvester Carter was born July 1, 1945 in Alma, Georgia to the late Ananias Carter, Sr. and Lillie Mae Carter. He received his formal education through the public school system of Bacon County. Mr. Carter was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E Church, Dade City, under the leadership of Reverend Van Green. He was preceded in death by: daughter, Geneva Milley Jefferson; his parents; brothers, Collis Carter, Willie James Carter, Herman Carter, Sinclair Carter and Ananias Carter, Jr; sisters, Lela Mae Carter, Norma Jean Johnson, Lucille Owens, and Bernice Johnson. On June 15, 2025, Sylvester was called home to rest. He is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Arrewintha M. Carter; his children, Decian and Levester Stevens of Alma, Georgia, Leroy Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Shawn Greene of Alma, Georgia, Markisha Williams of Zephyrhills, Florida and Shandricka Lashaye Boyd of Tampa, Florida; his step children, John T. McNeil, Jr of Tampa, Florida, Anna Johnson of Apopka, Florida, Lynwood McNeil of Orlando, Florida, Vendere McNeil of Palm Coast, Florida, and William K. Wynn of Orlando, Florida; sister, Geraldine Carter of Dade City, Florida; brother, Carnell Carter of Atlana, Georgia; special friends, Brother Larry Wright and Commissioner Jimmy Shive; his neighbor, Pastor Brian Butler; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
