Mr. Lynn King

Brother Lynn King was born on June 29, 1946, in Newton, Georgia, to the late David King and the late Fannie Dye-King.  Lynn was a devoted husband to Barbara King, a loving father to Reginald King and Melissa King, and a proud grandfather to Nyzaiah West and Sa Mya West. Lynn received his formal education through the School System of Georgia and furthered his education earning both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Florida A&M University.  While passing his mission of love to his friends Imani Asukile and Angela Lewis-Bennett, Lynn's love for his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those he cherished.  Throughout his life, he served his community in many capacities: as a teacher, a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, and a successful private business owner. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  A man of deep faith, Lynn was a longtime Sunday school teacher and served as a Trustee of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of his passing, he was a faithful member of Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Whether through his church, his work, or his everyday interactions, Lynn dedicated his life to serving God and helping others.  Lynn was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and pillar of the community. As the first Black letter carrier in Dade City, he broke barriers with quiet determination and integrity. Coming from humble beginnings, he became an example of perseverance, generosity, and faith, offering love, encouragement, practical help, and spiritual guidance to all who knew him.  He often said that there comes a time when a person "just gets sick and tired of being sick and tired." Yet he also believed that true transformation was possible only through faith, reminding those around him that he could accomplish all things only "through the Lord, who strengthened him." His life was a powerful testimony to hard work, self-determination, humility, and unwavering trust in God. Lynn King passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Tampa, Florida.  He was preceded in death by: his parents; He is survived by: a loving and devoted wife, Barbara King; his children, Reginald King and Melissa King; grandchildren, Nyzaiah West and Sa Mya West; his siblings, Jaunita Adams, Shirley Collier, and Glenn King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and friends.  Lynn's legacy lives on in his family, his church, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast faith. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, oh good and faithful servant."
