Ruby Annie Galloway was born on August 28, 1930, in Rhines, Georgia, to the late Archie and Vera Mae (Jones) Galloway. Ruby was the eldest of eight children: four brothers and three sisters. At an early age, she had to discontinue school to care for her siblings. She was a very hard-working woman who did a lot of fieldwork. Ruby lived in Rhines, Georgia, for approximately 25 years, then relocated to Florida and remained there until her demise. Ruby was united in holy matrimony to Henry Duval Pope, Sr., in 1954. They loved and served one another, uplifted, praised one another, and encouraged one another to improve. Ruby and Duval were married for 58 years. Ruby was a faithful member and attended services regularly until her health failed at First Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Trilby, Florida, under the leadership of Rev. Cassie D. Coleman. She had been a member since 2008. Ruby transitioned this life on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Dade City, Florida. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. & Mrs. Archie (Vera) Galloway; husband, Henry Duval Pope, Sr.; four brothers: Tommie Galloway, Leo Galloway, Archie Galloway, and Henry Galloway; two sisters: Warnell Galloway and Vera Mae (Galloway) Slaughter. One daughter, Venita Pope; two sons, Darnell Bates and Ardis Lee Pope, Sr., and one grandson, Ardis Lee Pope, Jr. Those left to embrace the memories of Ruby are two daughters, Dorothy “Tiny” Pope (John Jr.) Stewart, Lacoochee, FL; Yvonne Pope Davis, Ocala, Florida; one son, Henry Duval (Deloris) Pope, Jr., Zephyrhills, Florida; one sister, Lillian Galloway Clemons, Macon, Georgia.
