Minister Linda Bunch Obituary

Minister Linda Faye Bunch was born July 1, 1952, in Crystal River, Florida. She was the second of seven children born to the late Alonzo and Ruth Bunch. Linda departed this life suddenly on March 23, 2024 at Bayonet Point Hospital. Her family was by her side praising God for her elevation. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Nixon and Tyrone Bunch, her paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, aunts, uncle, and nephew.

Linda’s education began within the Citrus County School District.  The family relocated to Brooksville, Florida at the end of her second-grade year. Her tenure with the Hernando County School District began in third grade and ended at the end of her sophomore year at Moton School. Moton and Hernando High Schools became integrated. She attended Hernando High School her junior and senior year and was a member of the band and chorus. Linda was a member of the graduating class of 1970 at Hernando High School. After graduating from high school she attended Florida State University, in Tallahassee, Florida. Later she transferred to Saint Leo College where she earned a degree in Psychology. Linda loved studying the word of God. She attended Life Christian College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling, June 12, 2017.

Linda was employed by the State of Florida. She worked and ministered for 38 years. Linda held several positions: receptionist, social worker, and supervisor of child investigations. Linda retired in August of 2010. She did not view her job as work, but ministry. Linda fought for many children and families in the community. She established lifelong relationships.

Linda loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She began singing at the age of two years old. Her great grandfather baptized her in the river at six years old. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Crystal River, Florida.  Later she joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Brooksville, Florida.  She was a member of the choir and mission’s ministry. She taught Sunday School and was the director of the male chorus. She joined a group of members that met weekly to pray for the church. Linda was trained by her mother on church administration. She worked on the program committee and chaired various programs.

Linda joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in December of 2004. She served as leader of the Praise Team. She became a licensed minister under Pastor Freddie Hinson, April 24, 2005. Linda was a member of the Prayer and Care Team. She served as an encourager. Linda was over New Members. She was passionate about teaching the requirements of being a “Church Member”. Not only did she teach, but she built long-lasting relationships with the new members. She remained in contact with them and prayed for them daily. Linda was the facilitator of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church’s 7:00 a.m. prayer, better known as “Morning Coffee”.

Linda’s legacy will live on. She was the matriarch of the Seeds of Ruth. Linda was a devoted and loving mother to Curtiss Bunch and his wife Michelle, and Danielle Bunch. The world’s best grandmother to her granddaughter Kendall Bunch and a proud legal guardian to Tyshun Bunch.  Sister of Curtis Bunch (Dawn), Emma Bunch, Cynthia Waddy (Samuel) and Shawn Burnette.  Sister-in-Law of Mary Nixon and Godsister of Flora Camp (Alfred).  Further survived by an uncle, Eugene Scrivens, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and close friends.

Linda will be especially remembered for her anointed voice. God gifted her with the ability to encourage, strengthen, convict, and deliver listeners. She loved hymns and old Negro spirituals. She would often tell people that falling in love with Jesus, was the best thing she had ever done.
