Minister Charlie C. Smith, Sr. was born on July 23, 1946, in Dawson, Georgia to the late Deacon Frank Smith and the late Bishop Ethel B. Smith. He received his formal education at Eureka High School in Ashburn, Georgia, where he met and made many dear friends. Charlie gave his life to Christ at an early age and faithfully served as Minister at St. Luke Church of God Apostolic Faith in Dade City, Florida. Charlie was a musician at heart and had a passion for playing the guitar, which he often played during church services. He also enjoyed racing cars as a hobby and spending cherished time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his sisters, Diane and Jamie Smith; and his son, Ahmed Hicks. On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Charlie was called home to rest, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Lillian Smith; children, Charlie Smith, Jr., Lenwood Smith, Shenita Smith (Kenyon), Sherry Smith (Andrew), Jamar Hicks, and Kimberly Smith; 60 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bishop Frank Smith, Jr. (Fredricka), Pastor Annie McKnight, Assistant Pastor Ethel Harris (Granville), Eva Davis, Betty Norman, Glenda Ponder (Donnell), and Sandra Brown (Charlie); sisters-in-law, Frances Hughes, Clara Hicks, Princess Stokes, Anniebell McCray, and Loraine Butts; brothers-in-law, Hercules Hicks (Bridget), Carlton Hicks, Lamar Hicks (Ollie Mae), Eugene Hicks, James Harris, Leroy Harris, Daniel Hicks, Charles McCary, Harry T. Hicks, and Granville Harris (Ethel); special friends, Jacob Pugh and Nathaniel Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other sorrowing relatives, and dear friends.
