Mr. Larrye Alfie Smith was born March 2, 1949 in Dade City, Florida to the late Lillie Mae Smith. Larrye attended the public school system of Dade City, Florida. Upon graduating from high school, Larrye attended Bethune-Cookman College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree of Arts in Physical and Health Education. Throughout his high school and college career, he was very competitive in all sports. Larrye accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. On June 17, 2012, Larrye joined New Hope Development Center under the leadership of Bishop Randall E. Holts. Larrye served on the Board of Directors for the Non-Profit “New Hope Development Center, Inc.” as well as “Special Assistant to the Pastor”. Larrye was a “Sharp” dresser. He enjoyed being around family, had a passion for sports, and loved to travel. Larrye was no stranger to anyone, he loved to talk. Larrye will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Smith; son, Anton Smith; sisters, Bettye Jean Mullins and Patricia Irvin-Sanders. On January 8, 2024, Larrye was called home to rest. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: a loving son, Davin Smith, Sr. of Pearland, TX; 4 grandchildren, Aaryan Smith, Davin Smith, Jr., Artavious Smith, and Sel’ah Smith; 3 sisters, Mary L. Smith of Dade City, FL, Barbar Louis of Tampa, FL and Delores Brown of Tampa, FL; 1 devoted brother, Edward Dennard Smith; 2 special nieces, Felita (Neicy) Jackson-Simms of Saginaw, Michigan and Tasha Blackshear of Spring Hill, FL; “Like a Mother”, Mrs. LaRosa Dixon of Daytona, FL; a special and devoted friend, Georgia Leland of Lake Placid, FL; aunts, Corine Legree of Lake Placid, Ann Legree of Tampa, FL; aunts/cousins, Evelyn Zeigler, Mary Sanders and Shirley Robinson all of Eatonville, FL; and a host of other family members and friends.
