Johnathan Dawkins was born November 28, 1949 in Dade City, Florida to the Late James Dawkins, Sr. and the Late Lillie Bell O'Hara Dawkins. He received his formal education from Mickens High School in 1968. There after graduating, he was drafted into the United States Navy in 1969. There he served 2 years in the Navy and 2 years in the Reserves. After the military, he started his career in laying and plastering stucco, which was something he enjoyed doing. After starting his career, he married Edith Gray and to this union 4 loving children were born, who they raised together in a community in Tampa, called Progress Village. This was a community that Johnathan loved dearly. He also loved exercising and all types of sports. Johnathan loved his family but on March 25, 2023, God closed his loving eyes and gave him eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 siblings, James Dawkins Jr., Charles Dawkins, Minnie Sippio, Mary Frances Brown, Jerry Dawkins, and Albert Dawkins. He is survived by 5 children, Kenny Bennett, Sr. (Tamika) of Tennessee, Cornelius Gray, Sr. (Mary) of Tampa, FL, Johnathan Dawkins, Jr. of Tampa, FL, Lamaise Dawkins, Sr. of Tampa, FL and Tava Kelly (Derrick) of Dade City, Florida; 1 god daughter, Alicia Ray Geary of Tampa, FL; 6 living Siblings, Willie Dawkins, Gloria Sullivan (Hugh), Sylvia Dawkins, Darrell Dawkins (Althea), Tony Dawkins (Sherry), and Sharon Smith (Tyrone); 11 grandchildren, cornelius Jr. (Renee), Sauquasha, Jasmine, Lamaise Jr., China, Michael Jr., Maleak, Jazz, Malcolm, Destiny, and Rashad; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
