Hettie Baker Obituary

Mrs. Hettie Lee Baker was born June 30, 1939 in Campbellton, Florida to the Late Willie Mae and Theodore Newton Sr.  She received her formal education in Campbellton, Florida.  In 1960, Hettie met the love of her life, James C. Baker and they were joined in holy matrimony on  April 2nd in Marianna, (Jackson County) FL.  Hettie was converted at an early age, singing and praising god with her sisters and in local churches. Hettie was a longtime member of Dade City Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Mitchell Davis Jr. Hettie was a humanitarian and service woman, who provided patient care to the elderly in the city of Dade City, FL.  She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest.  On Friday, July 10, 2020, God closed Hettie's loving eyes and whispered "Peace be Thine".  She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.  Hettie was preceded in death by her parents; her 6 siblings, Willie Ree Gilbert, Thomas E. Newton, Richard Newton, Theolia Martin, Coy Newton, and Liddie  Sorey;  her children, Bobby Baker and Angie Baker.  She leaves to cherish her memory:  her loving husband of 60 years, James C. Baker Sr.;  her beautiful children, Janice (Rechea) Sanders of Riverview, Florida, Barbara Cheatum of San Antonio, Texas and  James C. Baker Jr. of Tampa, Florida;  her loving siblings, Annie Mae (Nixon) Pittman, Jessie Gean Newton, and Dairel Newton Sr.;  her grandchildren,  Shawana (Michael) Clay, Shaqueila (Durville) Singh, Billy T. (Alisha) Cheatum Jr, Jasman Wynn and  Shamieka Cheatum; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends.

 

 

*Visitation: Due to the pandemic of Coronavirus, social distancing will be practiced during visitation hours.  Milton Funeral Home staff asks everyone who visits during visitation hours, to please wear masks when entering the funeral home.  There will be no gathering of family and friends at the funeral home.  Once individuals have viewed the remains, we ask that everyone return to your vehicles as you prepare to leave the premises.  If you are sick, we ask that you not attend any services.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

*Funeral Ceremony: Due to the recent numbers of the Coronavirus pandemic, seating will be limited during funeral services.  Please correspond with immediate family members to get seating limitations as each church seating will differ.  We thank you for your cooperation and we do understand that these new guidelines may cause inconveniences to all!
