Geraldine S. Bush

Geraldine Scott Bush passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018. Geraldine was born on November 21, 1926, to the Late Abram and Dora Mae Lovett Scott. She grew up in the Springville Community and attended the Springville Rosenwald School. She was baptized and grew up in the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member.  It was in the Springville Community that she met her husband, Howard Bush.  They were married and moved to Dade City, Florida to start their family life.  She was an outstanding seamstress and cook, known for her baking skills. To their marriage, one daughter, Blynthia was born.  Fourteen years later she adopted a son, Jansen. Her home was always a welcome refuge open to relatives and friends. Her nieces and nephews have wonderful memories of summers spent on Delmar Street.  With her husband, Howard, she joined Mount Zion A.M.E. Church where she was  a faithful member for seventy years.  Geraldine Bush became a community pioneer as she became the first African American to be employed as a Telephone Operator at the Florida Telephone Company in Dade City on 7th street. Geraldine retired from United Telephone Company in Leesburg, Florida after 30 years of faithful service.  She is survived by her children; grandchildren; and other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
