George Theodore Harris was born on September 14, 1951, and transitioned on January 15, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy rich in love, faith, and community. As the fifth of eleven children to Beulah Bynum and Prestly Lorenzo Harris, George learned early on the values of resilience and joy amidst adversity. He was a man of many passions — an artist, a writer, and a devoted Sensei holding a 5th degree black-belt in Kaze Arashi Ryu and an 8th degree black-belt in Shotokan karate. His life was a testament to strength, grace, and the power of learning, as he shared his love for literature and knowledge with all who knew him. George was a teacher and a lifelong learner, always eager to explore new ideas and share them with his family. He inspired those around him with his words, his actions, and his energy. As a saved Christian, his approach to life was grounded in faith, believing that everything happened according to God’s plan. He encouraged his family to embrace both the known and the unknown with open hearts, trusting in the Lord. Family was at the core of George's existence. He has always there for his loved ones, embodying the essence of unconditional love and support. He is survived by his devoted wife, Midge, his partner in every sense, his son Andrew and his wife Carmela, his son Joshua and his wife Ashley and their daughter Ryan Carter, the apple of George’s eye. His blood lives on in his brothers and sisters Joe, Robert, John, Mamie, Mary Ann, Kathy, and Bertie Mae, and a host of loving sister in-laws, nieces, and nephews. George impacted his family, his friends, and everyone who he interacted with. In George's presence was a source of comfort and strength. He taught the importance of connection, laughter, and forgiveness, reminding us all that we are never alone when we move in faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will continue to honor him by sharing stories, embracing faith, and nurturing the bonds of love he so deeply cherished. Rest in peace, George. Your spirit will forever be with us.
