Mr. Dean Harlan Leferink was born January 20, 1960 to the late Robert and Bonnie Leferink in Japan. Dean graduated from Comeaux High School. Shortly after graduating, he went to better his education and attended and graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Geology. He later received a Master’s degree in History. From 1992 - 2009, Dean was employed with the Pasco County School District as a History teacher at Pasco High School. Dean loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid member of the Sons of Confederacy, where he served as a past Commander. Dean was also an active member of the NRA. Dean was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Dade City, Florida. In 1999, Dean met and married the love of his life, Ruth M. Hammer. He was a faithful husband, son, brother and uncle. On July 31, 2023, the two celebrated their 24th year of marriage. On Friday, October 13, 2023, Dean closed his loving eyes after a long battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him dearly. Dean was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ruth M. Leferink of Dade City, Florida; a step-son, Kenneth J. Hammer of Zephyrhills, FL; two brothers, Michael E. Leferink (Sheryl) of Alvin, TX and Randall Scott Leferink of Lafayette, LA; mother-in-law, Janet Hammer of Zephyrhills, FL; father-in-law, James M. Hammer of Dade City, FL; brother-in-law, Jim Hammer (Wendy Nelson) of Kenhorst, PA; a special friend, Tim Galloway of Lafayette, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
