Naomi Theresa Pressley, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 18, 2024. She was born Theresa Naomi Morgan on March 18, 1942, in Lacoochee, Florida, to the late Sanford Morgan Jr. and Katrena Grant Morgan. Known affectionately as “Theresa,” “Ms. Morgan,” “Ms. Naomi,” “Tee,” and “Naomi T. Pressley,” she touched the lives of many throughout her life. Theresa began her education in the small Black schools of Cummers Quarters in Lacoochee before completing her studies at Floyd Academy in Moss Town. She graduated with honors from Mickens High School in Dade City in 1960, then attended Hampton Junior College in Ocala. Afterward, Theresa dedicated herself to a long career in the school system, working as a secretary at Pasco Jr. High School and Moore-Mickens Educational Center, eventually retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service with the Pasco County School Board. Theresa was also active in the Moore-Mickens Alumni Reunion committee after retiring. In 1981, Theresa was married to James Pressley Sr. in a cozy little ceremony at her house on Patti Lane in Lacoochee. She then moved to Dade City with James to begin their lives together. The Pressley and Morgan families completely embraced each other upon their union. James and Theresa each had a son when they married (Jim and Orin) and soon after were blessed with the arrival of a third son (Nolan). James and Theresa spent the next 43 years together, raising their boys into men and then fathers themselves. Throughout those years, James and Theresa were inseparable, attending church activities, community events, family gatherings, and traveling with their sons for the different sports they participated in. A lifelong member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Theresa’s faith was a central part of her life. Her father, Sanford Morgan Jr., helped build the church, and Theresa carried on that legacy, remaining dedicated to her faith and her community. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Theresa will be fondly remembered for her kindness, compassion, and strong sense of family. Her memories will be forever cherished by: her beloved husband, James Pressley Sr.; children, Nolan Pressley, Orin Abner, and Jim Pressley; siblings, George Morgan, Sanford Morgan, Patricia Williams, Ralph Morgan, and Roderick Morgan; grandchildren, Brandi, Olivia, Kristen, Amiya, Jemal, Noelle, and Ella; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
