Mr. Darrell A. Davis affectionately known as “Coach D” was born on May 6, 1959, in Dade City, Florida to the late Mr. James E. Davis and Mrs. Rena Mae Davis. He attended Pasco County School system and graduated in 1977 from Pasco Comprehensive High School in Dade City, Florida. Darrell was a loving husband and father of 2 children. He was very passionate and concerned about the youth in his community, and in Pasco County Schools. He loved to share his food (Barbeque) “Arbeque” with friends and family on football games and on the weekends. He worked for Pasco County Parks and Recreation’s Summer Camps, making an impact on the youth for over 30 years. He recently retired from the Pasco County School Board as an Administrative Assistant for 28 years on May 31, 2023. Darrell went home to our beloved Father on August 22, 2023. He was preceded in his death by: his parents, James E. Davis and Rena Mae Davis; his sister, Regina Davis; grandmother, Lillie Mae Ellis; and grandfather, James L. Day. He leaves to cherish a lifetime of loving memories with: his wife, Betty “BJ” Davis; two sons, Eric Reed (Nyla) and Darrell Davis (Bradly); five grandchildren, Perry, Jaya, Izaiah, Daylen, and Reign; two sisters, Claudette Grubbs (John) and Starlee Alexander (Rev. Terry); two brothers, James Davis Jr. (Sibylle) and Larry Davis; six god-children, Ashley Davis, Jaonsha Hayes, Trinay Crichlow, Mekhi Penix, Jerry Carter, and Jamal Carter; one aunt, Joann Lee; two sisters-in-law, Freddie Mae Reed and Edele Graham (Norman); one brother-in-law, Eddie Reed (Ella); special niece, Terrell McClain (Cory); devoted cousin, Timmy Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends. Coach Davis left an impact on three very special people, Andre Hammond, Saleem Black and Ryan Smith; a very special family friend, Pastor Betty Watson.
