Charlie McCrea Obituary

Charlie "CJ" McCrea, was the son of the late beloved, Robert Sr, and Jannie Mae Pressley McCrea, born on June 12, 1949, in Salters, South Carolina. Charlie was a member of St. Mary M. E. Church, where he sang in the choir. Charlie worked building mobile homes in New Port Richey, Florida until he became disabled. He moved back to Andrew, South Carolina where he resided until he could no longer care for himself. His daughter, Charlene, took him into her home in Dade City, Florida to properly care for him. Charlie had the spirit of his daddy; through praying, singing in the choir, greeting people with a smile, enjoying fishing, and  BBQ pigs; just to make friends and family welcome with an open heart. Charlie always kept his door open to the family and even their friends out of state just to be sure that everyone was comfortable. Charlie enjoyed times spent with his family.  He was preceded in death by his former wife, Patricia (Tisdale) McCrea; his son, Charlie McCrea Jr.; and his siblings, Ismel Saunders, Sidney, Georgia (Penny), and Pauline "Pearline" McCrea. His memory will always be cherished by: his wife, Andrea McCrea of Georgetown, South Carolina; two sons, Robert McCrea of Wesley Chapel, FL, and  James E. McCrea of Pensacola, FL; two daughters, Charlene Lewis of Dade City, FL and Charlotte Amey of Kingstree, South Carolina; three brothers, Robert McCrea Jr. of Salters, South Carolina, Eddie (Wife) Pressley of Lare, South Carolina and George McCrea of St. Petersburg, FL; four sisters, Edna McCrea and Luella McCrea both of St. Petersburg, FL, Jannie Fasion, Elizabeth (Wilie) Williams both of Salters, South Carolina; step-children raised as his own, Larry Lewis, Willie Lewis, and Shirrea Lewis all of Dade City,FL, Nicole Lewis of St. Petersburg, FL, and  Nathaniel Benjamin of Ocala, FL; Special friend, Ella Mae Lewis, the mother of his children of Dade City, FL; Special friend, Tonya McKnight; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; a special grand niece whom he shared and celebrated a birthday with, Leasia McCrea.
