Obituary

Carl Everett Leslie was born in Dade City, Florida, passed away at Gulfside Regional Hospice on July 8, 2022, at the age of 93. One of 9 Children, was born on March 5, 1929, to the Late Adolphus Leslie, Sr. and Irene Lucas. Carl attended the public schools of Pasco County, where he met and made many lasting friendships. He confessed his life to Christ and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Dade City, Florida. Carl was united in holy matrimony to Arletta Tellis. They did not have any biological children of their own, but God afforded them the opportunity to adopt the Late Caroline, and helped rear and nurture their Niece, Amanda Tellis and Great-Nephew, Robert Tellis. Carl and Arletta played a very important role in their upbringing until Arletta’s demise. Carl continued to raise Robert and he remained in his home until Carl's demise on July 8, 2022. Carl was a long-time resident of Dade City, FL and continued to Worship at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member until his health declined, and he was no longer able to dedicate his time to the Trustee Board, Male Chorus and the Finance Department. Carl and his Late wife, Arletta, worked for Mr. Robert D. Sumner, Attorney. Carl did some bartending in his earlier years for Mr. Sumner and Mr. Art Schrader. During the time he and Arletta worked for Mr. Sumner at the law office, the girls in the office became acquainted with them. In 1999 when Mr. Sumner retired from private practice, Carl and Arletta continued working in the same building, but for Premium Title, Inc., for Jeanie Germain and Sharon Sumner. Carl and Arletta became family to Jeanie Germain, Sharon Sumner, Conny Collura, and his “Queen” Ryley Collura. They saw each other every day Monday – Friday and sometimes on the weekends. Carl would not leave the office if any of the girls were working late. Carl could put a shine on the conference room table like none other. Carl was also employed with Bank of Pasco, SunTrust Bank, Herman Schrader, Hjalma Johnson and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills, in which Carl was honored for 30 years of service. On July 8, 2022, Carl answered God’s Call and his time on earth has ended. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter, brothers, Adolphus and Earl Leslie; sisters, Christine Pettis and Earlene Leslie, Goddaughter, Paula Carletta Colbert. Carl leaves to cherish many fond memories: Niece, Amanda Tellis; Great Nephew, Robert Tellis; brother, Jereld Leslie; sisters, Twin Sister, Carlotta Grooms (Charles), Cora Alfreda Edmonds, and Emogene Leslie; Extended Family Members, Jeanie Germain (Bill Jackson), Sharon Sumner (Keith), Conny (Matt) Ryley Collura, Kristen Morgan (Andy), Theresa Miner; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and friends. Carl’s presence, love, and smile will be greatly missed.
