Superintendent Homer Amos, Sr. was born November 17, 1933 in Camilla, Georgia to the Late Ronnie and Elnora Amos Sr. Homer was reared and received his formal education in Macon County Public Schools System. Superintendent Amos met and married the love of his life, the Late Mother Florence Amos and to this union 4 children were born; Flora, Homer Jr., Magdeline and David. He was employed with Hercules Railroad for many years and later retired from C F Industries after over 35 years. Superintendent Homer Amos accepted Christ and became a preacher at an early age, under Elder Bethel and over the years be accepted the job of becoming the District Superintendent under the Late Bishop Thompson and served faithfully until his health began to fail. He was the Pastor of Gospel Temple COGIC. He loved the Lord and served the Lord for many years. Elder Amos will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Amos; his sister, Beula Richardson, Susan Frazier, Ethel Amos, Hattie Mae Johnson and Annie Ruth Stafford; brothers, RC Amos, Charlie Amos, St. Joseph Amos and Charlie C. Williams. He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Flora Ford, Homer Amos Jr. (Voncelia), Magdeline Davis (Willie) and David Lee Amos (Rosalyn); grandchildren, Chemeka Chambers (Ryan), Sheldon Davis (Monique), Carrie Ann Griffin, Mahagany Davis, Quentin Amos (Deanna), Cheyanne Davis and Elijah Davis (Tye); 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Anderson of Ohio; one brother, Ronnie Amos Jr. of New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Quincey Key Jr. (Odetha); and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
