Nathaniel Eugene Smith affectionately known to many as “Sonny Bono” was born December 28, 1961 to the Late Eugene and Ora Lee Williams in Dawson, Georgia. Sonny grew up in Dade City, Florida where he met and made many lasting friendships. At the young age of 13, Sonny was nurtured and reared by his adoptive mother, the Late Lillie Mae Smith and became a loving part of the Smith family. Sonny lived with his brother, Dennard and shared a very special bond. Sonny attended the public school system of Pasco County. Sonny worked many years with Lykes Pasco until his retirement. Sonny departed this life on Saturday March 3, 2019 at his home in Dade City. Sonny was preceded in death by his sister, Ola Mae Williams and brothers, Clarence and George Smith. He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Nicole Smith, Eugene Smith and Darnell Pippins; a companion, Elaine Pippins; grandchildren, Kamarie and Maylaysia; siblings, John Henry of Largo, Florida, Janie Williams of Baltimore, Maryland, Cora Brown, Johnny Harrell and Shirley Harrell all of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dennard Smith, Mary Smith both of Dade City, Fl and Larrye (Kathy) Smith of Miami, FL; aunts, Annie Mary Hill, Mamie Hill, Catherine Henry of Largo, FL and Mary Francis Sorrell of Albany, Georgia; like brothers, Martin Knight and Tobias Roberts; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and sorrowing friends.
