James Douglas Cowart

J. D. Cowart was born April 11, 1939 to the Late Lester and Wilmer Coward in McComb, Mississippi.  He was a very talented pianist in his youth, and much wiser beyond his years.  He could operate vehicles and machinery that were commonly used by adults.  His work ethics continued into his manhood, which led him to become the hardworking man he was known to be.  He helped raise twelve children, four were his by birth but he embraced and loved them all as his own.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Coward Sr.; his mother, Wilmer Brister Coward; and his brothers, Sampson, Lester Jr, James W., Ester and Clarence Coward; and his son, Dwayne Sims; and a grandson, Davion Cowart.  He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: six daughters, Jamie Cowart, Caren Cowart, Aimee Cowart and Brittany Cowart, Marilyn Burns and Vickie Watts; six sons, Jesse Cowart Sr., Clarence Watts, Kendrick Roberts, Kenneth Roberts Jr., Christopher Roberts and Bernard Roberts; one brother, Albert Charles Coward; one sister, Ida Coward Brewer; numerous grandchildren that were near and dear to his heart; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
