Delores Holt Obituary

Sis. Delores Ann Holt was born on December 9, 1952 in Dade City, FL to Joyce Mae (Broxton) Knight and the Late Elbert Willis in Dade City, FL. She received her early education in the Pasco County, School System. She grew up in the Bine Hills neighborhood of Zephyrhills, FL and later moved to Krusen Quarters (aka: Lincoln Heights). She attended Moore-Mickens High School and graduated from Zephyrhills High School. She married her high school sweetheart and remained married for 44 wonderful years. Delores was a proud military wife and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. Through the years of living in numerous states and abroad (Italy) she gained many friends; many of which she remained in close contact with. After settling back in her hometown of Zephyrhills, Delores began working as a Jewelry Manager for the K-Mart Corporation. She loved chatting with customers, so her profession provided her with the outlet she needed. Delores thrived for perfection and during her career she earned a 7 day trip to Hawaii for exceeding sales goals in the entire region.  Even after retiring she continued to work several days a week at her brother’s family business, Oriental Fish Co. in Tampa…..nothing ever slowed her down. Delores accepted Christ at an early age and later renewed her faith as a faithful member of Victorious Church of God in Christ where she served as President of the Usher Board. She was also President of the Ocala District Usher Board, a Western Florida Jurisdiction Usher Trainer and Treasurer in addition to being an active member in the International Usher Department. Delores took tremendous pride in her role as an usher and cherished the acquaintances and friendships she developed over the years performing her duties in various conferences and workshops.  Delores was so loved she affectionately had several nicknames---“Sil”, “Broc” “Sister”, “DeLo” & “Monkey” to name a few. She will most be remembered for her outgoing personality, sense of humor, generosity and overwhelming affection for her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved to cook, clean and stay busy.   On October 21, 2018 she departed this life after battle with ovarian cancer. Preceding her death was her father, Elbert Willis, her sister, Dorothy Willis and KeKe Willis and brother, Michael Willis. Delores leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband and partner, Edward Holt; two children: Tiki Holt of Tampa, FL  and Cassandra Holt Thomas (Warren) of Wesley Chapel; 3 beloved grandchildren, Devin Thomas, Nicholas Thomas and Amaya Thomas;  a devoted mother, Joyce Mae Knight; 12 Brothers, Early Dee Knight (Cherral), Johnny Knight, Kenneth Knight (Pat), Marvin Knight of Tampa; Albert Willis (Alice), Roy Willis (Brenda), Robert Willis, Freddie Willis of Cocoa, FL; Keith Willis of Atlanta, GA,  Rodney Willis of Tampa, FL  Mark Willis (Stephenya) of Miami, FL  and Enoch Willis of St. Petersburg, FL; 8 Sisters Audrey Jean Knight Tolbert, Felicia Knight Echols (Willie ), Arlene Knight Timmons (Taylor), Nadine Knight Snow (Ed) of Tampa, FL; Thelma Willis Hawkins of Melbourne, FL, Leatha Willis Smith, Sarah Willis of Rockledge, FL,  and Mary Brown of Tampa, FL  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
